Cake Pops!!!!!!!

The other day I baked a mocha cake. I have done it before and it is a very taste cake. Only this time something went wrong.....
I couldn't get it out of the pan, even though the pan was properly prepared and I used both metal and silicone pans. The cake came out in pieces and I had to gather it in a bowl.
Since I didn't want to throw it and waste all this butter and sugar and chocolate, etc., I had the idea of trying to make CAKE POPS for the first time!
The size I chose was small, because I didn't have any lollipop sticks, I only had thin wooden skewers.

For coating them I used: dark chocolate, white chocolate, almonds, caramel and cocoa.

And the choices you have for coating are, well, endless! Think of colored melted candy!!!
Cute, right!
NEVER EVER waste a tasty, but ruined cake!!!Make it POP!

All things shiny!

I have to admit it. I have a thing for Swarovski. Figurines, jewelry, stones, you name it. I am also a member of the Swarovski Society.
So it was inevitable for me to have a matching mobile phone….

I used Swarovski stones, which I bought in bulk and glued them on my mobile, using a permanent liquid glue, one drop per stone.
I have actually done this work on all my phones. There was a period, when I had a pink mobile phone with (naturally) pink Swarovski stones!!
Cute?

Olive oil cupcakes !!!

Olive oil is a traditional product of Greece and it is used in many types of desserts. I had a cake recipe, that I always wanted to use, where the main ingredient is olive oil.

I frosted the cupcakes with orange Swiss meringue buttercream.
The outcome was really tasty! So moist! I even took some to my co-workers in the office and they loved them! I will definitely make these again.
Note: this recipe contains no eggs, no dairy. (Yet it is amazing…)

RECIPE
400 gr self rising flour
200 gr olive oil
200gr freshly squeezed orange juice
1 teaspoon baking powder
220 gr sugar (any type will do, I used granulated)
1 pinch of cinnamon

Mix the olive oil, the orange juice and the sugar, until the sugar is dissolved. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Put the cupcake cases in the cupcake pan and fill them with the dough. I always weigh how much I put in, so that every cupcake will be of the same size. Bake in a preheated oven at 180oC for about 40-45 minutes, depending on the oven.
When they are completely cool, frost them with whatever you want. I do this usually the next day.
Here I made a classic Swiss meringue buttercream, which I flavored with orange essence and some orange zest.
On top I sprinkled pink sugar!
Enjoy! (We did...)

Double sided tape! (02)

As I said in my previous post, there are some more pictures of the things I covered with this silk fabric.
 This is a small box.

These are old jewelry boxes.

This is (obviously) a small photo frame!

Double sided tape! (01)

I had some fabric leftovers and a box of shoes (Ioanna's) and decided to give it a go and try to cover it.

I lined every side with double-sided tape and simply cut the fabric accordingly.

This project took a life of its own!I also covered with this silk fabric 1 small photo frame, 3 old jewelry boxes, 1 small plain box and 1 tissue box (pics will follow). They actually turned out pretty nice (for a first attempt)!
